Description
Chios Gum Mastic is the resinous material obtained from the Pistacia lentiscus tree which is grown on the island of Chios in Greece. Traditionally use as a health food in Greece, a recent study reported in The New England Journal of Medicine supports mastic’s contribution to gastrointestinal health and particularly for unfriendly bacteria that reside in the stomach. During the Middle Ages, mastic was such a prized possession that there were severe penalties for its theft. Hypoallergenic.
