We need to be properly educated on the rehabilitation of all aspects of our health falling below par"

A Solid Foundation for Health

Optimal nutrition means different things to different people. We all know the basics: eat your vegetables, cut down on fats and sweets, drink plenty of water — things we’ve heard since we were kids. Some of us heed this advice and eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, fiber and other wholesome foods, but others may eat broccoli once or twice a week and think that their nutritional bases are covered. Chances are, we could all benefit by doing more to ensure that our nutritional needs are being met.

Why is this so important? Because optimal nutrition is essential for the healthy functioning of our bodies. Without it, subtle functional changes may occur that impede our progress on the road to vibrant health. You may not be aware of any problems, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that your body is functioning optimally. An understanding of the many roles that nutrients play in the body is the first step in achieving that goal.

How Are You Affected?
Are you currently enjoying the kind of life you should be? Is it as active, productive, and inspired as it should be? Is your body managing this time of hormonal and functional transition as well as it could be? If not, perhaps we can help.

Nutrition and Menopause
Supporting the body in its ability to manage a smooth hormonal transition and to replenish its energy reserves is important to a continuously active lifestyle. In harmony with that goal, there are select foods, vitamins, minerals, and special nutritional factors concentrated from food that can be taken. Additionally, nature provides profoundly nourishing herbs that support a woman’s health and hormone balance during this period of hormone decline. These herbs fall into three categories: (1) plants that possess phytoestrogens, sometimes referred to as “weak estrogens”; (2) herbs traditionally used to support liver function; and (3) plants traditionally used to support blood and its circulation – the “road” that hormones must travel to reach the reproductive tissues where they support moisture and lubrication.

The Physiological Diet
__________________________

This diet will help you to get well and stay well. It is not a diet which simply lists the foods you are to eat every day at each meal, but is a set of eating rules which are applicable to almost any one person at any time.

Moderation in eating habits is essential to good health. This diet allows considerable variety, yet follows the principles of moderation.

You must learn the basic rules and follow them. These basic rules are:

1. EAT ONLY WHEN HUNGRY.

Explanation: By eating ONLY when actual hunger pangs strike you, the body has "signaled" that it is readyto utilize food...digest, absorb and assimilate it. If you eat entirely by force of habit, that is, at so-called "regular meal times", the true appetite is seldom noticeable and over-eating is the result. Do not be afraid that you will suffer ill effects from missing a meal or two, the result will be beneficial.

2. EAT A SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF RAW FOODS DAILY.

Explanation: We must realize that RAW FOODS ARE ESSENTIAL TO GOOD HEALTH. They serve the body in many ways, not the least of which is satisfying the body's needs for essential nutrients thus eliminating the craving for cooked foods, this being one of the major causes of overeating and obesity.

3. EAT WHOLE FOOD WHENEVER POSSIBLE.

Explanation: Whole food is not likely to be processed or overeaten. For example, preference should be for whole meat not ground and baked potatoes not mashed.

4. AVOID PROCESSED AND TAMPERED (COUNTERFEIT) FOODS.

Such as:

Bleached flours

Hardened fats (oleo, margarine, shortenings, etc.)

Refined sugar products

Foods which are sprayed with poisons (insecticides), commercially fertilized, animals treated with hormones (stilbesterol), and foods grown on devitalized soils.

ALL vegetables should be washed thoroughly. The selection of organically grown foods, where possible, should be a primary aim of every health-minded individual.

5. CHEW ALL FOOD THOROUGHLY.

The thorough chewing of food is essential to good health.
