Special Note:
If you are taking certain supplements or hormones, there are special instructions for
collection. When taking any of the following supplements and hormones -- Pregnenolone,
Progesterone, Cortisol, DHEA, Androstenedione, Androstenediol, Testosterone, Estrone,
Estriol, Estradiol or any other steroid hormone:
1)Make sure at least one month has passed since you started taking hormone
supplements before beginning any of the HormoneChecks. Time is required before the hormone
reaches equilibrium with binding proteins in the blood, specimens collected too soon do
not accurately reflect hormone concentrations in the saliva.
2)The specimen must be collected 24 hours after last dose. Preferably, the specimen
should be collected in the morning, before the daily morning dose is taken. If you are
taking one of the hormones or supplements twice a day, consult with your Health Care
Provider about reducing your dosage to once a day. Since hormones all affect each other,
these two rules apply to ANY screen if ANY of the above items are being taken.

HORMONES MAKE THE MAN
Most men believe that the greatest benefit they get from hormones is sex drive and
sexual function. But, male hormones control much more than sex drive and sexual function.
Testosterone and DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone), two essential male hormones, influence
many aspects of your health. Testosterone aids in the development of bone, lean muscle and
body mass, and cardiovascular function. DHEA is the most abundant hormone in your system
and serves as the source for testosterone production. DHEA boosts the immune system,
decreases blood pressure, helps to regulate sleep and assists in your body's stress
response. Both hormones are essential to optimal well-being.
The following checklist can help you determine if your male sex hormones may be out of
balance.
| Are you 35 years of age or older? Do you often feel
fatigued without reason?
Are you having trouble getting a good night's sleep?
Do you feel depressed? Irritable?
Is your sex drive lower than usual? Are you experiencing sexual dysfunction?
Are you concerned about any immune or cardiovascular diseases?
Have you experienced recent weight gain and are above your ideal weight?
Have you noticed differences in skin tone and appearance--the addition of
wrinkles?
Do you have difficulty coping with stress?
Do you smoke? Do you drink alcohol? |
Keeping testosterone and DHEA in balance really does help to make the man. MaleCheck
by BodyBalance is a prime way to determine if those hormones are in their proper balance.
